Hackaday Meeting

Sharon and I drove the entire 350 miles to PA Thursday for the first-ever hackaday meeting. Check the map. (thanks, google!) The drive was great, until we hit the Cross Bronx Expressway (isn't that how it always is?) There were plenty of wrecks and construction zones to go around, not to mentioned the car broken down in the middle lane of the GW bridge. All in all, we managed to be about an hour late getting to the park.

We were instantly welcomed and introduced, Vince was pretty impressed that we actually came all the way from MA. I'm pretty sure we missed most of the actual meeting, as it was mostly a social event after we arrived, but we did get to hear about the insecurity of moveable type (and default admin logins in general) and some of the CVScam discussion.

Shortly after we arrived a rather loud group of PA'ers showed up and effectively crashed the party. They seemed content to sit toward the back of the group and talk amongst themselves. Sharon and I tried, but couldn't think of anything they contributed to, other than the eventual breakup of the meeting.

Around 9ish the meeting split, and several of us, including Vince & Scott (TUAW) went to a fast food mexican place just down the street to eat & socialize till around 11. There were several discussions about WiFi security, Apple, and hacking in general.

After everyone left, one of the locals took us to a small Irish bar & we had a few beers before starting the long trek home. All in all it was a lot of fun, and totaly worth the drive. I can't wait to see if we can get something set up here in MA so I can try to go every week.

Hi, I tried e-mailing you about your comment on hackaday in regards to a Boston meet.

I realize you may be a bit busy, but the official announcements go out tomorrow, so the day fast approaches.

Are you still planning on setting something up?

Either way, please let me know at orphrey at gmail dot com. If you set it up, I'll be there. If you don't set it up, I'll give it a shot.
