Movable Type

I've been trying to install Movable Type 3.2b5 since I downloaded MarsEdit & realized that it just blows for blogger support.

I don't have the access or even desire to get this set up for, yet.
I've just been trying to get it to work on my G4 for testing purposes.

For those who don't know, I have a PowerMac G4 400MHz/896MB RAM/160GB HDD. I'm using the Apple provided Apache 1.3.33.

Apache is pretty easy to enable on OSX, its installed by default, all you have to do is check a box in your system preferences' sharing pane. I spent about 6 hours trying to figure out why http://localhost/~myuser/ wouldn't work, but http://localhost/~mywife/ worked just fine. Finally, tired & fed up I shutdown my mac. It wasn't until about 5 minutes after I clicked skip that I realized I'd enabled FileVault on my account.

I'm convinced that that's the only thing keeping Apache out of my ~/Sites/ folder. Man do I feel like an idiot!

Anyway, I downloaded & installed MySQL 4 & PHP 5 (after trying to get phpMyAdmin to work with MySQL 5. It won't, so don't waste your time.)

With Apache, MySQL, and PHP finally configured, I sat down to finish the MT install that I started Monday.

I've been installing PERL modules since 1pm.

CPAN and Marc Liyanage's software page have been incredibly helpful. As has my previous (however limited it may have been) LINUX experiance.

Still not finished, but I'll let you know.
